We use mostly Pioneer Hi-Bred and Dekalb seedcorn and FS HiSoy and Pioneer soybean seed. We take many yield checks each year. In 2005 our best tests were: 217.27, 212.0 & 209.0 bushels/acre for corn and 69.30, 67.28 & 66.70 bushels/acre for soybeans. 2005 had a lot of very hot dry weather...we were fortunate to produce as much as we did. In 2004 our highest checks were 255.9, 253.6 and 250.9 bu/acre for corn and 74.7, 74.6. and 71.6 bu/acre for soybeans. The farmland in this fertile river valley traditionally produce good crops. This year's (2005) corn yields were below average. We experienced field averages as high as 181.5 bushels per acre and an overall corn average of only 145. Our 2005 soybean harvest was slightly above normal. Our best field yielded 63.2 bushels per acre with most yields at 55 or 56. We are eagerly looking forward to starting field operations for the 2006 crop year! Field operations will begin in March and planting will start the first week of April!
This shows our trucks waiting to unload at our grain drying facilities. They are waiting because the bin is full of wet corn...we can harvest it much faster than we can dry it for delivery to a grain elevator.
