After harvest we begin getting ready for next years crop. First...fertilizer and/or lime is applied. Second...we start the primary tillage operations.

We go as deep as we can to loosen the soil, but the fresh crop residue is an increasing problem. The new genetics in the seeds keep the plant healthier longer so the stalks are tougher when we try to do tillage!

This photo shows a primary tillage operation which we used do after harvest. With this v-ripper and 400 horsepower tractor we would loosen the soil to a depth of about 16 to 18 inches. This implement could not handle the increasing amount of crop residue.

Our dream is to expand and grow along with our family. We have the management capabilities and the machinery capacity to farm another 1,000 acres right now. Land is a good investment and so are we. Call us. Let's Farm Together!
